Job Description

This position will be responsible for preparing and processing payroll data and information to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages, salaries, and other payments to employees. Serves as a point of contact for employee questions about payroll. Will work on a team of coordinators under moderate supervision.

Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)

  • Prepare monthly payroll information by entering payroll data to payroll system (Workday)
  • Balance, verify, and validate payroll input prior to payroll processing
  • Review and process additions and changes to payroll system (salary, benefits, tax withholdings, etc.)
  • Coordinate and process irregular payments as needed (bonuses, etc.)
  • Answer employee questions concerning pay and deductions
  • Process paperwork for garnishments
  • Calculate and process imputed income at year end
  • Prepare and key manual checks as needed
  • Assist with governmental reporting and compliance as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required, college preferred. FCP or CPP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of payroll experience required

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with payroll systems software; adept at learning new software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and handle employee questions and complaints in a professional manner
  • Familiarity and experience with garnishments essential
  • Multi-state payroll experience a plus
  • Exposure to taxes preferred
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
